Nora Taylor Women's Missionary Society

Missionary

The Women's Missionary Society is an organization rooted in African Methodism as far back as 1787. Organized first as the Women's Parent Mite Society in 1874 and as the Women's Home and Foreign Missionary Society in 1895. Spiritually empowered, these faith-filled, committed women of both organizations of the AME Church merged their united efforts and left a legacy that became the Women's Missionary Society. The WMS is an organized ministry, the emphasis of the WMS finds its roots in the Holy Bible. The stated Mission and Purpose is recorded in the Doctrine and Discipline of the AME Church and in the Women's Missionary Society Constitution and by-laws. The International Organization is under the leadership of Bishops and Supervisors of the AME Church with churches located around the U.S. & Canada, Bermuda, Bahamas, The Nations of the Caribbean, London, England, South America, and Africa. Our structure is levelized from the Connectional Church to the Local Church.
